PM Praises CPP Members' Way of Life

Siem Reap: President of the Cambodian People's Party, Prime Minister Hun Sen praised the loyalty of CPP officials who have lived together for some 50 years.

Speaking at a meeting with people who voluntarily relocated from the Angkor resort area to Pak Sneang Development Zone this morning, 22 October 2022, Prime Minister Hun Sen mentioned Minister Khieu Kanharith, Minister of Information, who has been with the Prime Minister since 1979 along with other ministers who share the same loyalty. The Prime Minister also praised the unity and solidarity of all party officials.

"It is very difficult in this world for a political party to live together for almost half a century and not leave each other," he said. “No other party! In just two or three years, they are all separated, but the CPP has not! Together for half a century."

The CPP was founded on 28 June 1951 by Cambodian nationalists wishing to liberate the Cambodian nation from French colonization. It is the oldest party in Cambodia and led the struggle to liberate the Cambodian people from the Khmer Rouge regime in 1979, and has continued to lead the country until today.

Currently, the CPP is led by Prime Minister Hun Sen as the President, and has four vice presidents: Deputy Prime Minister Sar Kheng, Senate President Say Chhum, Deputy Prime Minister Tea Banh and Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam An. National Assembly President, Heng Samrin, is also the party’s honorary president. The CPP Central Committee currently has 865 members.
